Exciting advancements are on the horizon with the development of in vitro tests utilizing groundbreaking “organ-on-a-chip” technology! innovative approach allows for preclinical testing with human cells, aiming to reduce our dependence on animal models. Spearheaded by the renowned Prof. Matteo Moretti (EOC), his team is crafting cutting-edge 3D models that closely human physiology. The possibilities are endless, with applications in drug discovery, drug repurposing, bioavailability enhancement and personalized medicine!

Tissue Engineering
(Laboratory & Clinical)
Microsurgical reconstruction a vital medical field that restores function and aesthetics for individuals affected by traumatic injuries, cancer, and congenital anomalies. These procedures enable personalized treatment for complex tissue and organ issues when standard options are limited. Led by Prof. Daniel Kalbermatten from HUG, this research focuses on multidisciplinary approaches to enhance microsurgical outcomes through molecular, cellular, and bioengineering methods. Recognized globally for expertise in fat grafting and adipose tissue stem cell therapy, advancing tissue regeneration.

We are landing on the Moon!
LUNAR DELIGHT™
The ORBIT FOR LIFE and LifeShip Mission Pyramid on the Moon will deliver cultural and culinary artefacts to the lunar South Pole by the end of 2025. Part of an institutional and commercial moon landing expedition, we are sending -among others- the very first bean-to-bar chocolate (from Switzerland) and premium marzipan (from Germany) to the Nobile region of the Moon. This story is bigger than just the cocoa beans' and almonds' sensation, it's the story of humanity's future on Earth and beyond its boundaries, using space for society's welfare and wellbeing.

Their collective expertise supports the strategic direction of the association, ensuring scientific excellence and impactful project development. By leveraging their global networks and insights, the Expert Council plays a vital role in positioning ORBIT FOR LIFE as a recognized international leader in microgravity-driven innovation for the benefit of life on Earth.

Professor
John Horack
Prof. John Horack is the Neil Armstrong Chair in Aerospace Policy at The Ohio State University, with joint appointments in Engineering and Public Affairs. He brings over 35 years of leadership in aerospace, including executive roles at NASA and industry. Internationally recognized for his work in space policy and astrophysics, he is a sought-after expert in the field of Commercial Space.

Daniel Kalbermatten
Prof. Daniel Kalbermatten is a highly regarded Swiss plastic, reconstructive, and aesthetic surgeon with additional specialization in hand surgery. He serves as Head Physician at the Hôpitaux Universitaires de Genève (HUG) and holds medical degrees from Bern and Boston, and an MPhil from Manchester. Kalbermatten is recognized for his pioneering work in microsurgical reconstruction and nerve regeneration, and is known for innovative approaches to complex reconstructive challenges.

Executive Director
Jack Lim
Jack (Dongjoo) Lim leads Boryung’s New Portfolio Investment Group, focusing on space-related investments and strategy. He advises South Korea’s Ministry of Science on space initiatives and has driven Boryung’s partnerships with Axiom Space, including a Series C investment and a Joint Venture. Jack also launched Boryung’s first space healthcare startup challenge and co-hosts the "Humans In Space" initiative. He holds a BS from Georgia Tech and previously worked at AT Kearney.

Matteo Moretti
Prof. Matteo Moretti is Head of the Cell and Tissue Engineering Laboratory and Director of the Regenerative Medicine Technologies Laboratory at EOC, Lugano, Switzerland. He is also a research affiliate at Harvard-MIT Division of Health Sciences and Technology. His research focuses on advanced cell culture, microfluidic systems, and bioreactor technologies for regenerative medicine.

Chief Scientist
Luis Zea
Dr. Luis Zea is Chief Scientist at Starlab Space and an adjunct professor at the University of Colorado Boulder, specializing in bioastronautics. With experience spanning academia, industry, and entrepreneurship, he has led numerous NASA-funded spaceflight experiments, including missions on the ISS and Artemis I. Dr. Zea’s work bridges space science, engineering, and business development to drive innovation in microgravity research and exploration.
